Why should we pay "famous" people so much?

Our economy is in a huge down slide, and yet we're still paying Nicole Kidman, Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, etc. millions of dollars? And for what? Doesn anyone else think we should start dramatically cutting down on "famous" salaries and start helping out those in true need?
